We continue to work and play with numbers alongside all math
concepts, and we have played many games to help us build understanding
and increase our fluency in recognizing numbers. One learning experience
that was a big hit was organizing the hundreds chart. A few numbers
were placed accurately in the chart to help us begin, and we worked off
these numbers to place the others. The numbers were mixed so that we
really had to be thinkers and use our mathematical knowledge to count
on, count back, and find patterns within the hundred chart. What
accomplishment we felt when it was all put together!
As the hundreds chart was completed, many excited voices proclaimed recognition of patterns within the numbers. Listen to us explain some of the patterns we found:
