As per photographer request, copies of class pictures are being sent home today in black and white. There are two pictures from which to choose (a normal one and also a silly one; please look on both sides of the paper sent home.) If you would like to order a color copy, please fill out the attached paper accordingly, making sure to put the number of the photo on the form and with money attached.

Math Workshop
We have been learning about time during math workshop, and have started a unit on data analysis. We have done lots of interactive activities to learn how to tell time to the hour, and many of us are beginning to understand how to tell time beyond the hour. One of these activities involved using our bodies to make a clock:
To see how we have begun our data analysis unit, watch this video. We were asked to gather data as to how many chairs are in the classroom, and we then organize our data to show others our information:

A Special Visitor
We were all very excited to meet Alina's bunny, Snowball, this past Thursday. Alina demonstrated one of our "4Bs" -- responsibility -- as she taught us how to pet and feed Snowball. Some of us were a little scared to pet Snowball, but others were risk-takers and gave her a little pat. It was fun to have a furry visitor in our classroom!
Letters of Love
Our buddies came down today to help us read our Valentine letters. The children were so excited! Letters arrived from across the globe. Thank you all for making it such a special day. Your children definitely felt loved!

A Provoking Morning
We had quite the provoking morning! Watch the video below to see what happened in our classroom:
OrganizationProvocation2 from AIS Dhaka on Vimeo.
This activity led to a really great discussion about roles and responsibilities within communities. To extend this learning even further and encourage the students to think about the importance of the different jobs people do, we want to invite YOU to participate at home. Please consider doing a similar provocation at home by not doing some of the little things you normally do for your child (i.e. getting his snack ready, packing his bag, tucking him in bed). As your child begins asking why you aren't doing these things, encourage a discussion about the roles and responsibilities you play in helping your family community stay organized and function smoothly. Then discuss your child's roles and responsibilities.
**PLEASE send a short email about what happened at home and even some photos if you are able to take them. This will help us explore this idea even further and examine organization within the various communities in which we are a part. Many thanks in advance for your participation at home.**

Reminder -- 100th Day Bottles and T-Shirts/Clothing
This is a reminder that we will be celebrating the 100th day of school tomorrow. Your child brought home instructions about a 100th day bottle to prepare. Please help him complete and return it tomorrow morning.
Additionally, as mentioned in the letter sent home, students are invited to wear clothing that somehow shows the number 100. They might glue 100 items onto an old shirt, draw 100 circles, or even wear 100 beads. The sky is the limit!
